Most important things to remember in UI/UX

Last updated:

3 things

You need to know 3 things in every project:

  • What are we creating?
  • What’s worth doing?
  • What value does it provide?
  • Every ideas must have competition.
  • Most important principle of good UI/UX is progressive disclosure. Information presented to someone who isn’t interested in it - or isn’t ready to process it is just noise.

Requirements

There are 3 kinds of requirements:

  • things people say they need
  • things people actually need
  • things people don’t know they need

When you need to get requirements quickly, use scenarios are your best friend

Documentation

  • Documentation eliminates excuses and surprises which makes life good.
  • When it comes to interacting with clients, partners: silence equals agreement.
  • If you’re doing something without a list, you’re guessing which is bad.

Testing

Be realistic about what matters most: you can’t test everything

  • Design Thinking
  • Usability
  • Accessibility
  • Information Architecture
  • Wireframe
  • Responsive Design
